The easiest way to get to Seurasaari is by public transportation. Take tram 9 from Hakaniemi market square in the city center and get off at Kuusisaari stop (about 25 minutes). You'll find the entrance and bridge to Seurasaari Island right across from it. Busses 21, 22 and 23 also go here.

Are there places to eat and drink on the island?

Yes, you'll find several cafés, snack bars and restaurant kiosks on the island. Some of them even sell take-out meals so you can Gpicnic or enjoy your meal on one of the benches along the paths of Seurasaari!
